Based on empirical research, the author identifies the status of the human resources (HR) function in organisations based in the Kalisz – Ostrów region. The study covered 30 organisations of various sizes, forms of ownership and sector of activity. The study was conducted in April 2015. The study used a method of diagnostic survey, with a questionnaire as a research technique. The research tool was the original questionnaire containing both open and closed questions, which were appropriate for diagnosing the HR policy of the organisation.
